Product Material
Shell is form-pressed and lacquered.
Non-upholstered version: Form-pressed oak or ash veneer shell and base, both in water-based lacquer. Base in powder coated steel. Oak and ash veneer: slight color variations can occur due to the inherent characteristics of the material.
Upholstered version: Shell is made in formpressed veneer with foam and fully upholstered with textile or leather. Base in powder coated steel.
Steel is an alloy of iron with carbon. Powder coated steel has a subtle, textured expression and elegant feel while adding durability to the design and making it more resistant to corrosion. Powder coated steel is also highly chip resistant.
Lacquered Ash Veneer
Ash is a key material in Scandinavian furniture. We use the naturally bright, oiled ash wood to bring a light sentiment into our designs. The material is used in all of our colored furniture designs as ash is easily curved and shaped. It is also an excellent surface for lacquering, giving the vibrant colors a long lifespan.

About designer
Mika Tolvanen is part of the Finnish Rehti Design group. After graduating from the Royal College of Art with a Master in design in 2001, Mika established his own design office in Helsinki. He has since worked with some of the world’s top designers and manufacturers.
“The idea for the Visu Chair was to create an elegantly simple interpretation of the archetypal wooden chair. I wanted for the design to have a subdued and timeless character that would add feelings of modern familiarity to any room together with a comfortable seat in form-pressed veneer. Designing the chair as a family that were all aesthetically linked yet could be used for different functions was a study in adapting a design to its surroundings and a process that lasted nearly two years.” — Mika Tolvanen.
