Design with Impact – the summary of the conference in Wrocław

On April 24, 2025, in the very heart of Wrocław, the Design with Impact conference brought together enthusiasts of human- and planet-centered design. The event transformed our Wrocław showroom into a vibrant space for exchanging ideas, inspiration, and experiences, as well as for sparking vital conversations about the future of interior design that not only delights but also genuinely enhances quality of life.

The conference was attended by a wide audience of architects, interior designers, and students of architecture and design. It was a unique opportunity to meet international experts and immerse oneself in the latest trends in office space design, centered around neuroaesthetics, flexibility, and sustainability.

Three Perspectives on the Future of Design

The conference program featured three thought-provoking talks that offered different perspectives on what responsible design means today.

The event opened with Michał Gorczyca from Muuto, who introduced the concept of neuroaesthetics, explaining how aesthetics affect the brain. Using real-world examples, he demonstrated how a well-designed office can not only improve wellbeing but also boost productivity and creativity. Michał presented specific Muuto solutions that stimulate the senses and help create spaces where people simply feel good.

Anna Skou from HAY focused on the role of sustainability in the design and manufacturing of furniture. She spoke about the brand’s philosophy, which uniquely blends Scandinavian simplicity, functionality, and aesthetics with a deep commitment to ecological responsibility.
Her presentation encouraged reflection on how designers can – and should – respond to the challenges of today’s world by making conscious choices regarding materials, forms, and production processes. She showcased inspiring examples from HAY’s portfolio – furniture designed from the outset to be long-lasting, recyclable, and low-impact. Anna emphasized that truly sustainable design is not only about durability but also about timeless, enduring aesthetics.

The final presentation came from Bertie Van Wyk, a workplace expert at MillerKnoll, who introduced attendees to the concept of Design with Impact. He outlined a global vision for designing spaces that address the changing needs of today’s workforce – both on-site and hybrid. He spoke about the role of designers not just as creators of beautiful interiors, but as contributors to people’s health, wellbeing, and performance.
Bertie stressed the importance of sustainability and the need to design with adaptability in mind – especially in the context of fast-changing work environments, where flexibility is key to success.

More Than Just Knowledge – Valuable Networking Opportunities

Beyond the presentations, the conference offered ample opportunities for networking, with time set aside for discussions, sharing experiences, and engaging directly with our speakers. In a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, new connections were made and ideas for future collaborations began to take shape.

Guests were eager to share their thoughts on the challenges facing designers of modern workspaces. Topics such as flexibility, wellbeing, and responsible design sparked ongoing conversations that we hope will continue long after the event.

Design with Impact – Why It Matters

Design with Impact is more than just a slogan. It’s a belief that every interior has influence – on people, on relationships, and on the environment. In a world of rapid change, designers have a unique responsibility: to create spaces that are not only beautiful but also healthy, functional, and responsible.

We believe that gatherings like this one in Wrocław help build a community of people who understand the power and responsibility of designing for the future.
Thank you to everyone who joined us – your presence made this event truly exceptional.
