DESIGN BY BRUNO REY FOR DIETIKER, IN COLLABORATION WITH HAY, 2022

Based on the original Rey Collection designed by Swiss designer Bruno Rey in 1971, HAY has teamed up with Dietiker to relaunch the Rey Stool. Featuring Dietiker’s unique screwless wood-to-metal connection, the iconic stool has an uncluttered silhouette with angled legs that balance the distinctively rounded edges. Its solid construction, strength and stackable design give it a timeless quality that makes it suitable for using in a wide variety of domestic, public or corporate settings. Made in solid wood, it is available in original colours, as well as new tones selected by HAY. The Rey Collection is not available from HAY in Switzerland.

Material

Seat and back in moulded plywood with beech top and outer veneer.

Legs in solid beech.

Chromed steel footrest.

Plastic. Standard on all variants. Suitable for all floorings that are not too sensitive.

OPTIONS Felt gliders for wooden floor. Seat upholstery on Chair and Bar stool. CMHR foam (fire retardant).

About the designer

Bruno Rey was born in 1933 Brugg, Switzerland. After an apprenticeship as a cabinetmaker, he studied at the Zurich School of Applied Arts, where he attended classes with the pioneering designer Willy Guhl. He opened his own studio in 1968, working on an innovative chair design that was mass produced in 1971 by Dietiker in Stein am Rhein. 3300 as the chair was originally called, later became known as Rey, the most successful Swiss chair of all time. HAY has collaborated with Dietiker to present the Rey Collection by Bruno Rey, comprising the Rey Chair, Rey Stool, Rey Bar Stool, Rey Table and Rey Coffee Table.
