Designed for HAY by Norwegian designer Andreas Bergsaker, Chisel Lounge Chair is a contemporary yet timeless take on the ever-relevant moulded plywood chair. Named after the classic carpentry tool, Chisel was created from the desire to design a solid wooden chair with a distinctive silhouette that would stand the test of time. Developed with optimal craftmanship and ergonomics in mind, the chair’s soft, organic seat and backrest provide good support in a visually inviting way, complemented by angled legs that echo the chisel references with their characteristically bevelled edges. Chisel Lounge Chair’s wide variety of wood types, colours and front upholstery options, combined with its compact size makes it ideal for use in most domestic and public settings, from living rooms and bedrooms to waiting rooms, lobbies, and libraries.

MATERIALS
- Seat and back: 10mm moulded plywood shell
- Base: Veneered plywood core with solid wood edges on legs.
- Gliter: Black felt gliders
- Options: Back upholstery 15 mm foam and seat upholstery 20 mm foam. CMHR foam (fire retardant)
CONSTRUCTION
Moulded plywood seat and back glued and screwed to the frame composed of veneered plywood core and solid wood edges. The core of the plywood seat and back is made in beech, with the top veneer in beech, oak or walnut. The frame is composed of a veneered plywood core with solid wood edges on the legs. Black felt gliders are mounted on the legs

The furniture is designed to be a long-lasting furniture item made to last for many years. The furniture is 100% recyclable and all parts can be fully separated and recycled. All parts can be delivered to a suitable recycling facility.

About the designer
Andreas Bergsaker (b. 1990) is a Norwegian product designer based in Copenhagen, Denmark. He graduated with a master degree in Product Design from Oslo and Akershus University College of Applied Sciences (HiOA) in 2015. His work covers different everyday objects, designed for product longevity and generations to come. Bergsaker’s designs are rooted in exploration of material and shape, and referencing cultural heritage with emphasis on traditional craftsmanship, industrial production processes and tactile qualities. His work has led to exhibitions in London, Milan, New York, Oslo and Stockholm. For HAY, Andreas Bergsaker has designed Korpus Shelf and Chisel Lounge Chair.
